If your book shelves, cd and dvd towers are bursting at the seams, it’s time to downsize your collections and donate them to Lifeline’s Harbour to Hawkesbury branch. Based in Gordon on Sydney’s north shore, Lifeline H2H provides community services for the entire region including 24 hour telephone counselling, face-to-face counselling, suicide prevention programs, emergency relief, community aid and a support line.

Lifeline H2H’s giant book fairs and sales are one of their major fundraising activities with fairs and sales held throughout the year. Click Here for information on where to take donations and when sales are held. If you are not based nearby, find a local charity who will accept these items.

You’ve successfully downsized your collection – congratulations! Here are five tips to stop it growing again:

  1. Rediscover your local library or rental outlet.
  2. Start a lending group among family and friends. You’ll have a readymade library with everyone’s own collections.
  3. Download music, movies and ebooks.
  4. Think before you buy. Is there another option – see above?  Do you really want it to take up valuable space in your home?
  5. Go through your collections regularly to stop the creeping clutter.

Good luck!

If you or someone you know is in difficulty and needs support or advice, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
